As well as the CDRF, Ghana’s capital Accra will also host the ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in the same month.
The RDF is being held on October 1, while the WTDC is from October 2 to 4, with both a the Accra International Conference Centre.
Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Ghana’s minister of communications, launched the planning committee for the two conference on Tuesday and said: “To facilitate consensus building, the ITU is organising, ahead of the meeting, the Regional Development Forum as a platform for open dialogue, cooperation and partnerships among telecommunication/ICT policy makers, regulators, industry, academia, regional and international development agencies and organisations on specific regional ICT issues.”
Boamah added Ghana was now a favourite destination for the ITU in Africa and a 10-member planning committee, chaired by Charlotte Morgan-Asiedu, would organise the two events.
